How this number is made

We start from the school's most recent published admit rate (U.S. Dept. of Education College Scorecard), then adjust it for where your SAT/ACT sits against the school's middle-50% band, your GPA bucket, your activity level, and hooks like legacy or first-gen. The result is deliberately a range, hard-capped so it can never show false certainty — at schools admitting under 10%, no stats push the top of the range past 25%. Self-reported inputs, no AI, nothing you type is sent anywhere.
